A quick biography of

Amleto Barboni

Amleto Barboni started out as an audio technician in 1998, and got specialization from IAV (Instituto de Áudio e Vídeo, Audio & Video Institute - São Paulo - Brazil). That same year he founded Z&O Studios, that has operated as a commercial studio for eighteen years, and in which he has recorded and produced many diverse Brazilian and foreign artists. Hybrid by nature, parallel to that, in 2014 he started working professionally in the audiovisual industry.

From 2016 on, Z&O Studios has attended to production work exclusively, and has no longer been available for third-party rentals. The following year, Amleto also started working in the advertising industry as head of production at ad agency Suba, where he has been responsible for its projects, for building its studio, and for all the audiovisual content production for brands and talents. Still in 2016 he conceived and was the pedagogical coordinator for Mosh Institute, an experimental audio teaching structure under the Mosh Studios, which is considered the largest studio in Latin America, and has successfully implemented courses on recording and mixing. He has worked with F.biz, DPZ, AlmapBBDO, WMcCann, TV Cultura, and brands such as Unilever, L’óreal, Visa, Lupo, Huggies, Lowko, Prevent Sênior, to name a few.

As musical diretor and producer for the band Rotação Inversa, he has toured the country opening for renowned Brazilian artists such as Frejat, Skank, Capital Inicial, Paralamas do Sucesso, Jota Quest, Paula Toller, Zeca Baleiro, Titãs, Arnaldo Antunes, and Teatro Mágico. He has also directed the Vivendo a História da Guitarra Blues show along with Marcos Ottaviano, an exponent of Brazilian blues music, touring the Sesc circuit.

In the educational field, some of his highlights include musical production for Marcos Ottaviano’s blues guitar methods Guitarra Blues volumes 1 (with Guitar Player Magazine) and 2 (independent), and the development of the entire courseware for Mosh Institute. He has been responsible for the implementation and execution of the music production course at Brick School.

As a musician, his first album, Amleto Barboni’s Thing was released in 2009 by the Delira Música label from Rio de Janeiro, and was received with great enthusiasm by critics. The record features major names from the Brazilian blues scene such as André Christovam, Blues Etílicos, Marcos Ottaviano, Flávio Guimarães, Ary Borger, Fabio Zaganin, Willbone, Ivan de Andrade, Rubinho Antunes, Daniel Latorre, plus American harmonica player Bruce Ewan. He has toured through many Sesc branches and major music clubs in support of the album. Following that, he released the A Night at Maxwell Street DVD, featuring some of the most well-regarded musicians in Brazilian blues. Both works received a nine-page coverage in Cover Guitarra and Guitar Player (the world’s biggest guitar publication), among other music and audio magazines.

Amleto has performed on the TV special Blues no País do Samba, broadcasted by Rede Cultura and TV Sesc; on the TV Gazeta show Todo Seu, hosted by Ronnie Von; on the GNT show Happy Hour, hosted by Astrid Fontenelle; on the “Novos Talentos” (“New Talents”) segment of the news program Jornal do SBT; and on live radio for the now-defunct Kiss FM show House of Blues; his music has been played on the 91Rock FM (Curitiba) show Na Rota do Blues, on Educadora FM (Salvador), and on Rádio USP (São Paulo), among other stations. He has played the Sesc N Blues Festival in 2008, 2009, and 2011; the Festival Nacional de Blues (“National Blues Festival”) at Circo Voador in 2007; the Samsung Best of Blues festival in 2015, and the Ibitipoca Blues festival in 2016.
